Based on the developing fact bases Fact base/mr, proposals received Call for Proposals/mr, आणि discussions Village Pump Key Questions/mr, several strategic priorities for Wikimedia are emerging. What kinds of partnerships will advance the mission most, आणि who should lead their development. What are the necessary preconditions आणि how can we ensure they're in place.
  3. Innovation आणि उपयोगिता – How can the Wikimedia movement ensure continual innovation आणि usability so its work is maximally useful for intended recipients.

Procedure

टास्क फोर्स Mandate

The टास्क फोर्सेस will have the mandate to:

  • Convene on their assigned topic
  • Consult the guiding paper, fact bases आणि summary interview notes already developed in Phase १ of this strategy project
  • Consult with advisors
  • Conduct additional primary (interviews, focus groups) आणि secondary research (reports, statistics) as needed
  • Develop preliminary findings
  • Formulate tentative conclusions
  • Propose recommendations
  • Report on the assigned topic

NOTE: Mandates will be finalized by the Selection Committee


In support of these mandates, each टास्क फोर्स will be given the following:

  • Set of strategic questions which should guide their work
  • Contact list of topic advisors who would be willing to provide input
  • Guiding paper which identifies आणि provides supporting evidence for strategic priorities
  • In depth fact bases on Reach, Content, आणि Participation, including detailed data analyses
  • Tools आणि templates to support conducting interviews, doing analyses, आणि creating the final deliverable

टास्क फोर्स निवड प्रक्रीया

टास्क फोर्स participants will be chosen from an open application process. People may apply to serve on a टास्क फोर्स from September १६ through September 25, 2009, or until 2,000 applications are submitted, whichever comes first. Additionally, the Selection Committee may invite others to participate in the process.

The Task Force Selection Committee along with volunteers will go through a deliberation process on a private Wiki to determine the appropriate टास्क फोर्सेस. This will be a two step process. The first step will be an initial screen to create a टास्क फोर्स pool. The second step will be assignment to a specific टास्क फोर्स either as a टास्क फोर्स member or advisor.

In step १, all applications will be reviewed आणि scored १ to X based on a set of criteria. A minimum of 2 reviews for each application will be done आणि the scores averaged. The goal for step १ is to identify a potential pool of ~200 applicants for step २.

In step 2, the Selection Committee आणि volunteers will draft a top list of applicants per टास्क फोर्स based on fit criteria. After each टास्क फोर्स has been drafted, there will be a balancing done across टास्क फोर्सेस to ensure, as best as possible, equal distribution of expertise आणि skill. Once this private deliberation has been done, टास्क फोर्स assignments will be posted आणि assigned members आणि सल्लागारांशी संपर्क केला जाईल.

It is anticipated this announcement will take place on October 5, 2009.

Each टास्क फोर्स will be expected to do their work on this Wiki. They may also decide to use other tools to coordinate their work. They will be able to work in any mutually agreed upon language. However, final work products will be expected in English (to be translated into other languages).

The Selection Committee will ask one participant on each टास्क फोर्स to serve as the group's facilitator, who will be responsible for facilitating conversation, keeping the group on track, आणि making sure the group fulfills its responsibilities.

  • Weekly status reports here on the wiki
  • Recommendations of strategic priorities for their specific topic area, with supporting facts आणि आवश्यकता. A first draft of these recommendations will be due on नोव्हेंबर २०, २००९. The final draft will be due on डिसेंबर १८, २००९.

Additionally अजून, while the टास्क फोर्सेस described above will be appointed by a selection team, we see no reason why motivated individuals should not be able to use the same tools आणि templates to form their own टास्क फोर्सेस. We'd encourage these groups to share their work openly on this wiki as well.
