Process/Activation
< Process
In IRC office hours on 2010-05-12, during a discussion about getting volunteers to commit to tasks, a list of potential motivating factors for volunteer activation was drawn up. Here's a list of the motivating factors:
I'll do it if...
- there are others involved
- there's a sense of accountability
- it's feasible
- it's clear what skills are needed
- someone else volunteers me
- the goals are clearly defined
- I know how much time I need to commit (and have it available)
- you pay me
- you make it fun
- you convince me that I get power by doing it
- you provide ways to work collaboratively
- the tasks are bite-sized chunks
- it's well defined, of quality, and meets the mission
- someone else starts it and provides a framework
