Summary
Many of our best editors don't have access to contemporary research in many fields, mainly scientific. In order to keep Wikipedia articles up-to-date, it is necessary to read the latest academic publications, which are mostly available for university students and not to the wide public. Many editors do not have access to magazines, such as nature magazine and its professional Publications. For example, nature geoscience, that holds the latest information in Geology – my subject in the Hebrew Wikipedia.
Proposal
Allow registered users access to such magazines or an alternative.
Motivation
Better resources = better articles = better contributions for Wikimedia projects.
Key Questions
- Costs?
- Languages (mostly English)?
- Proxy problems?
- Individual registry?
Potential Costs
