Summary
A wikifying browser (module) would turn a selection of words, if encountered in web pages, into links to Wikimedia projects (Wikipedia or Wiktionary).
Proposal
The idea is to allow people to look up words more conveniently by clicking on the inserted links on the web page. The inserted hyperlinks can link to Wikipedia or Wiktionary and in a selectable language. The proposal would require the ability to download full or partial indices of the selected Wikimedia project(s).
Motivation
- Allow people to learn while browsing the web.
- Useful as a vocabulary trainer (which could be an additional function).
Key Questions
- How should the indices be delivered? Peer Distributed Transfer Protocol?
Potential Costs
None
