Proposal talk:Commenting on Wikinews

What about {{:Comments:{{PAGENAME}}}}. You only have to enable this (but I don't think it would be useful). Did you propose this on Wikinews? Nemo 20:37, 19 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

It´s working. Some minor changes would be needed (includeonly, ifexist, ...). I proposed some months ago, when I spent again some time at de:Wikinews, to introduce commenting, but they didn´t want to. You know, I like commenting news and aren´t we Web 2.0? --Goldzahn 21:18, 19 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
English Wikinews has a hacked-in comments tab, and it works, but it is just a hack. It isn't fully up to par. I prefer to keep comments on a separate tab like that, but I'd like to see the comments tab fully integrated into the system instead of being a hacked-in afterthought. That "hack" is used on it.wikinews, too (and many others, I suppose), and I find it completely satisfacting. Nemo 12:40, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Impact?

Some proposals will have massive impact on end-users, including non-editors. Some will have minimal impact. What will be the impact of this proposal on our end-users? -- Philippe 00:06, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Commenting on a Mediawiki-based site is a rather frustrating experience for a newcomer. In general, this is a big can of worms to get into…but for commentary on Wikinews stories, I'd like to see something much more user-friendly, like how commenting works on Wordpress. It should also take advantage of related technologies like OpenID, RSS, Gravatars, and the like. -Peteforsyth 02:18, 23 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
