Proposal talk:Distribute computers to schools in developing countries

Latest comment: 14 years ago by Fasten in topic OLPC deployments

In my opinion the Wikimedia Foundation can best help the OLPC project and education in general by concentrating on developing teaching materials, lesson plans and related software - as Wikiversity and Wikibooks are already doing. We should cooperate with the OLPC project but not try to take it over. Filceolaire 14:51, 17 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

OLPC deployments

Apparently the OLPC project has discontinued support of small deployments anyway. --Fasten (Wikinews: Aktion Deutschland Hilft asks for donations after the earthquake in Indonesia) 09:42, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Of course one could partner with http://www.computeraid.org/, http://www.reuse-computer.de/ or a computer vendor to accomplish the same (Apple, Dell and Microsoft for instance have school programs). --Fasten (Wikinews: Aktion Deutschland Hilft asks for donations after the earthquake in Indonesia) 09:47, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
