Proposal talk:Open the Archives

Impact?

Some proposals will have massive impact on end-users, including non-editors. Some will have minimal impact. What will be the impact of this proposal on our end-users? -- Philippe 01:11, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Very small, since it would be a separate project - just like the existence of, say, wikiquote, has very little impact on the users of, say, wiktionary. Only administrators on Commons would have a new source of large amounts of similar files, but that's something they seem to be used to already anyway. - Andre Engels 05:53, 25 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wiki Source?

How does this differ from wikisource, is this just a collection drive for it or would it require an expansion to its remit? WereSpielChequers 10:19, 13 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I dont see how it differs from Commons+Wikisource. We already have transcription software at wikisource:Special:IndexPages. There are existing proposals for improving the infrastructure of those two projects. John Vandenberg 05:52, 1 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
