Proposal talk:Show number of users watching a page

Latest comment: 13 years ago by EdoDodo

Simply impossible, vandals would select unwatched pages to vandalize them. Nemo 09:33, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

This is rather interesting, as Watchlists are used as often to guard existing content as to prevent content from being added (a Watchlist very much is a double-edged sword). A list of unwatched pages could serve to show which pages are available to receive content, but indeed it could also help vandals. - Brya 10:19, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Providing that as the proposal mentions this information was restricted and not available to vandals but only trusted vandal fighters such as rollbackers and admins then I would be happy to support this. WereSpielChequers 14:41, 27 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
It is already possible for admins to find unwatched pages (w:Special:UnwatchedPages) and as for seeing the actual number of watchers this is possible with a number of tools, for example Watcher. Any tool is not allowed to say the number of users watching a page with under 30 watchers, due to vandalism concerns. If this proposal is implemented on-wiki, then I think that it should follow the same rule. - EdoDodo talk 16:20, 25 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

A similar tool exists yet: [1]. We simply need to help the manteiner (User:Henrik) to extend it to all Wikiproject (for example it don't work on Wiktionary). --Aushulz 01:48, 23 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Impact?

Some proposals will have massive impact on end-users, including non-editors. Some will have minimal impact. What will be the impact of this proposal on our end-users? -- Philippe 00:16, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
