Proposal talk:Survey our readers as to what they expect from Wikipedia

I'm very fond of this idea. I'm a strong proponent of user surveys... -- Philippe 14:04, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Impact?

An interesting idea and one worth pursuing. However pop-ups are probably not the way to go, pop-up blockers have proliferated of late and this could adversely impact the legitimacy & representativeness of the survey as some groups of users are more likely to use or have pop up blockers imposed on them than others. The way we ought to proceed in my view is to have a nice request at the top of the page or inserted on the user talk page to follow a link to the survey page. This is much more polite and will allow users to respond at their leisure. Sjc 17:13, 27 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • Works for me. By the way, can someone look at the template below. Obviously this proposal would have a high level of impact, in the sense that it would tailor the work we do to the target audience better, and allow end-users to better understand the target audience. But I don't know how to fill the template in. Hiding 12:25, 1 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why?

The purpose of Wikimedia is to give people access to knowledge, it is not to give people what they want. There already is far to much bias in Wikipedia towards the popular. - Brya 05:40, 4 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
