Impact?

Some proposals will have massive impact on end-users, including non-editors. Some will have minimal impact. What will be the impact of this proposal on our end-users? -- Philippe 01:13, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Not specific to Wiktionary

If something is done:

• this proposal of common templates should apply to all projects, including Wikipedias, why limiting it to wiktionaries?
• the use of these templates cannot be made mandatory: editors want easily understandable template names, template names in their languages. And it's also normal that they want to always improve existing templates.
• it's impossible to discuss a common layout policy (whatever the project: Wikipedia, Wiktionary, etc.), because languages understood by editors are different. Convergence between layouts should be natural (and is natural).

I agree with Lmaltier. I think will be a good idea to create a Wikiproject with the objective of homogenize all languages version of the same project. But a similar work need a lot of time, so I think the best way is give some priority, deciding which templates need homogenizing. --Aushulz 02:27, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

I disagree. Building a common repository of templates is possible, but I believe that a wikiproject common to all language versions is impossible for language reasons (and it would not be a good thing: it's much more effective to let projects copy each other's best ideas).
