Proposal talk:Wikipedia in homeless shelters

Impact?

By allowing the homeless easy access to Wikipedia, we can improve their minds just like people who actually have homes to go to at night or in the cold. GVnayR 02:40, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

News

Wikipedia is not for news. --Nemo 21:36, 24 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I apologize on that part. Changes were made so it's more about information than getting the news. GVnayR 03:41, 25 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Might make sense to rename this as Wikimedia in homeless shelters, that way you include wikinews. However whilst I would support the idea of getting Internet access to disadvantaged groups such as this, I don't see the point of having a wikimedia kiosk as opposed to an internet terminal. Job ads and small ads are going to be of value to the homeless and none of our projects carry them. So in my view this is a good cause and one that would help us achieve our goals, but it is not part of our remit. WereSpielChequers 09:47, 5 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
It could be an internet terminal that will only permit users to look at job search sites and Wikimedia sites so that the homeless aren't off "wandering" the Internet looking at sites that might reward them for being homeless. GVnayR 15:11, 5 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
