Site usability issues
Multilingual structures
Build structures for multilingual participation Structure done, will need to be continually monitored. -- Philippe 04:34, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Edit tools
What about a basic edittools with category, redirect etc.? --Nemo 06:44, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Enhanced edit toolbar
Unless there's a reason to deliberately disable it, perhaps enable the enhanced editing toolbar by default?--Eloquence 22:37, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- Good call. Bug number 20001 -- Philippe 22:45, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Global user accounts
The login page should mention that global user accounts can be used. --Tgr 09:07, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- That's a good point, I'll see about getting that changed. -- Philippe 20:26, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Automatic login
Automatic log-in when you're coming from another Wikimedia site doesn't seem to work on this wiki, as it does on our other sites.--Pharos 13:22, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- I found this too. Global Accounts still works, but you have to manually log in the first time. Upon first coming here I briefly thought this wasn't a WMF wiki because of this issue. Gopher65talk 13:59, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Checking on this one. -- Philippe 14:55, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Adding a line like «If you have unified login you don't need to signup, simply login!» to MediaWiki:Loginend would help. Nemo 18:35, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
- I added that line to the interface. :) -- Philippe 19:06, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Look and feel and user customizations
Site logo
Needs logo :-) done and being uploaded to commons. -- Philippe 02:56, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- It could use some further revision. Current logo is here, if anyone wants to take a crack at it: File:Wikimedia StratPlan Logo Proposal001.svg--Eloquence 06:25, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- How about the one I just uploaded? File:Wikimedia Strategic Planning logo.svg. - Rjd0060 23:09, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- Perfect. :-) Thank you very much for making it. (If I could make one change, I would add the word "Wikimedia", perhaps have the text be "WIKIMEDIA STRATEGY", just to make it clear to people what the context is since the logo is neither the official Wikimedia logo nor very recognizable in general.)--Eloquence 00:31, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- For the record, I am not the one who created it. That would be User:MZMcBride who asked me to upload it here. But I'll pass on your suggestion. - Rjd0060 13:54, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- Rj, you asked me what my opinion was on this in IRC... and my opinion is; I have no opinion. But if Eloquence thinks it's important, I would tend to lean that direction. -- Philippe 17:34, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- Variants: 2 and 3. --MZMcBride 20:44, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- I like #3. -- Philippe 20:46, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- Agreed - it looks great. :-) --Eloquence 20:50, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Call for proposals
The "Call for Proposals" in the left-hand column redirects to the WMF wiki, and not to either of the correct pages Proposals or Proposals/Call for Proposals. The redirect from Proposals goes to the WMF wiki, but Proposals itself works? Very odd, Proteins 11:07, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, we've had some freaky server stuff going on. It seems to work okay now, let me know if you see anything later. Thanks! -- Philippe 15:27, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
- I still occasionally seem to get sent to a different site than strategy.wikimedia.org. Looks like there's a lingering back server configuration somewhere. :-( --Eloquence 01:24, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- I got it too; reported to Brion. They're actively hunting it down. -- Philippe 06:23, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Favicon
Favicon: shouldn't be Wikipedia's one. --Nemo 06:27, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Site design
What's with the odd design of this wiki - it doesn't have the usual design of, say, Wikiversity (which I read now and then). Writing from shared computer, --82.42.145.228 18:57, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- We are using the new "Vector" skin, which was designed by the usability project. Eventually, most projects will migrate to this one. If you hit the "try beta" link while signed in, you'll be moved to it for testing purposes on most wikis. -- Philippe 19:16, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- The guy above seems to have a good point. However, the look of MediaWiki with its italics for edit/upload summaries etc. is a characteristic of the software that is easily recognisable, and seems odd if changed - my experience of MW sites always tends to use modified Monobook skins.
- Also, is there any way a developer can change someone's signature via the database in old diffs, due to a complaint from a website owner? --94.246.126.118 19:28, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- I could delete the revisions, if you'd like... just email me the info. pbeaudette@wikimedia.org. -- Philippe 19:41, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- Deleting the revisions might violate the licence though, it's the fact the username (which has now been changed anyway) still shows up in old revisions on enwiki, enwikibooks, enwikiquote, and Wikimedia Commons with the fake signature (info's a bit sensitive to post here). That was the only reason for requesting the signatures changed via the database. Hope this helps. --94.246.126.178 19:59, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- Why don't you email me the pertinent information (I'm covered by the Foundation's privacy policy) and I'll see what we need to do. pbeaudette@wikimedia.org. -- Philippe 20:28, 9 August 2009 (UTC

Gadgets API
The API needs to be enabled to allow for creation of gadgets. Or something like that... –Juliancolton | Talk 19:23, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Site technical issues
DNS stability
There still seems to be some DNS wackiness .. I've gotten the recent-changes for wikimediafoundation.org twice when loading recent-changes for strategy.wikimedia.org.--Eloquence 22:36, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- It's been reported to brion, they're looking into it. -- Philippe 22:45, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- Same issue here (while editing Category:Italian). --Nemo 06:31, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Interwiki link shortcuts
Inter-wikilink shortcuts don't work properly. Only the longform links work, but some shortform links don't. IE [[wikinews:Main Page]] gives the main page of wikinews English. [[n:Main Page]] doesn't, even though it should. Gopher65talk 13:20, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- They should work now. Re-report any other problems. -- Philippe 14:55, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
User creation log
The User Creation Log doesn't seem to be displaying all users. If that log is right, then only a handful of accounts have been created in the past month. It should normally display both auto-created accounts (from Global Accounts) and manually created accounts — which it is doing, but it is only displaying a fraction of the total created accounts. Gopher65talk 13:58, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
- I think it's only showing locally created accounts. :( How high of a priority is this? -- Philippe 07:50, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- Well, normally I'd use the User Creation Log to find new users to {{Welcome}}. We're getting to the point size-wise where we're going to want a bot to do that. I don't know how bots find new users, but I assume that they do it the same way that I would: using the User Creation Log. Gopher65talk 12:58, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
MediaWiki extensions for this site
ReaderFeedback extension
We may want to install the ReaderFeedback extension to evaluate the proposals.--Eloquence 06:48, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Issues pages
Could this page be renamed "Wiki technical problems" or something similar? I'd like to create a page about "Issues", meaning community issues that need to be discussed as part of strategic planning. I don't want it confused with this page. Thanks. -- Sam 07:29, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- Moved the page appropriately. --MZMcBride 08:23, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Welcome Bot
We need to enable a welcome bot, so that we're not flooding recent changes... adding to Bugzilla. -- Philippe 07:45, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
