Talk:Task force/Community health/archive 1
I did receive an email about this task force. For some reason i did not find this place after I did answer Yes to the question "do I want to be a part of this discussion . Somewhere I missed a link to this place to get involved in this discussion. I like to say this is a problem for wikipedia. wikipedia is getting more and more complicated. And people don't want to spend a lot of time learning to write this wiki-language. I have a feeling this is one answer to the question " how to improve community health" People like me, only once a month or less active on Wikimedia, cannot find their way. I for instance have no idea what to do whith this {{LiquidThreads}} in this screen. (and i don't want to spend time to find an answer, for I only want to paritcipate in this discussion). I don't want to have to learn a new language in order to be able to write a piece of text on a subject. (It would be so easy to give a a little comment with this kind of 'high brow' thing as {{{LiquidThreads}} that says what to do with it. Now I want to get rid of this {{LiquidThreads}} and i am looking for a comment-sign. After a lot of time I find this nowiki symbol. I just takes too much time to write something for wikipedia. Someone in the wiki community likes it to make things more complicated. JaapB 06:18, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
I entirely agree with you on this about overcomplication JaapB. I find it confusing, and I have been engaged on Wikipedia (en) since very much near the outset. Markup should be as near intuitive as possible, or button driven. Sjc 06:52, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- I think you guys are onto something. The things that would improve the community on Wikipedia are very basic, and aren't out in left field. But actually doing it will be challenging. If you scroll down, you guys will see some other discussions that are going on. Randomran 16:11, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- I guess I'm seriously confused here. LiquidThreads is entirely menu driven. There's no markup to be learned that's different from traditional wikis? -- Philippe 10:23, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
