Please add, for example, a way to figure out who Nikerabbit and Siebrand are to the proposal references and/or linked inline. 75.55.199.5 23:40, 15 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

good

Its a good way to apreciate some one.Worlds all languages need to award their examplary and strategic work and committement to the same. Mahitgar 06:37, 17 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Do these people have first and/or last names?

Or are they like Cher and Madonna? 75.55.199.5 21:44, 18 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Good Idea

Localisation is one of the most important parts of MediaWiki (besides the ability to write wiki pages), and these two individuals have lead an amazing effort to improve the localisations of MediaWiki by running translatewiki.net. --Cmelbye 01:12, 26 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Impact?

Some proposals will have massive impact on end-users, including non-editors. Some will have minimal impact. What will be the impact of this proposal on our end-users? -- Philippe 00:10, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Clearly more in-house translators would be great. 98.210.193.221 00:03, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Current affiliation?

What additional work would that provide, to one they are doing right now? Should we hire all [technology] volunteers, as our strategy? Midom 20:35, 7 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree! This isn't a proposal at all... what "major issues" are there that would be solved by hiring these people? Why is that more important than hiring a generic staff developer or sysadmin or spending the money on servers or other tech stuff of something else in the Foundation or wider community? Hiring a generic staff developer will not bring us improved language support. At translatewiki.net we have a lack of developers. There is still a lot of work to be done just to cover all the functionality that makes our projects tick. The toolserver for one is still very much terra incognito.
Language support IS a major issue to our projects. It is arguably one of the key aspects of the usability of our projects. Both Nikerabbit and Siebrand have proven their worth. Given that the current situation is not sustainable safeguarding our current quality of language support is a major issue. Thanks, GerardM 11:42, 9 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
