Task force/Community Health/Recommendation evaluation

• Final Goal: The Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) has requested 2-4 specific recommendations on Community Health for January 12, 2010.
• Interim Target: By December 17, we narrow this list down to four broad areas (ideally), or more (realistically). Table is a guideline to help us evaluate.

List of potential recommendations

Proposed areas of recommendation

• Volunteer recognition: Support and incentives for good volunteers. (See also: Category:Proposals_for_volunteer_support and Category:Proposals for editor awards or rewards)
  • Task_force/Recommendations/Community_health_1 - 'volunteer recognition'.
• Social Networking: New tools for collaboration and communication (See also: Category:Proposals_for_new_social_features)
• Interface/Tools: Making work easier and clearer for all editors (See also: Category:Proposals for improving usability)
• Dispute Resolution and Decisions: Fixing consensus-building, decision-making, and dispute resolution. (And, incidentally, policy-making.) (See also: Category:Proposals for reducing in-fighting)
• Organizational Structure: Improve governance, job assignments, and specializations (better leadership and non-leadership roles) (See also: Category:Proposals for reforming policy and governance of Wikimedia projects)
• Policy: Rethink policy (additions, removals, etc.) (See also: Category:Proposals for reforming policy and governance of Wikimedia projects)
• Vision and Goal-Setting: Set vision, goals, and targets to guide volunteers
• Research and Measures: Provide clearer measures of community health
