Instead of using external links to link to other Wikimedia projects, you can use interwiki links. To use an interwiki link to wikipedia, just do this: [[w:Your Wikipedia page here|this is my link's displayed name]]. So, for instance, a link to your wikipedia userpage would be: [[w:User:JackPotte|JackPotte]], which will give this: JackPotte.

Please note that due to a bug that currently exists in the Strategic Planning Wiki, many of the interwiki shortcuts listed in the metawiki help page don't work. However, the longform links still work. So, due to this bug (that only exists on this wiki apparently), [[n:User:JackPotte|JackPotte]] will not take you to your Wikinews userpage like it should, but [[wikinews:User:JackPotte|JackPotte]] will: JackPotte.
