Thanks !
I seen your User:JamesCrook/sandbox, that's great ! Thanks a lot. I also seen your profile: huge experience in computing & freeware. I was the architect & 1st leader of the Graphic Labs, where volunteer graphists create +4.000 images and +3.000 maps, many in SVG. There are skilled graphists. We now need better SVG technologies. I lobbied for that so many times, then leaved because I'm not skilled enough to lead such radical technology changes. An unified SVG tool for schemes and for maps (GIS) will, yes, be GREAT to "to avoid fragmentation of effort." Thanks a lot ! I hope this dream will realize soon (not 10 years XD).
Note: The wikimedia Foundation Germany has a 15.000 US$ donation for an "OSM-wikimedia collaboration", and 20.000 US$ from the Greenspun project with the aim to "spread SVG on wikimedia" (were almost not used, should stay 19.000). I was just a lobbyist, I just had ideas of an unified tool. If you have the ability to lead this (coding, managing), then, try to contact Erik Moller. Who know~ Yug 12:34, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
- SVG Map Display: This article is explaining the situation. Awareness have been raised and coding projects set up to display (SVG) maps from OSM within Wikipedia's article.
- SVG Edit: Nothing, or almost nothing on the side of creating and editing SVG online, by teams, and display the result on Wikipedia's article. Some requests like mines, but nothing real.
- That will be hard to change minds to think about this possibility. Yug 17:00, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
